Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect colour I knew I could look at paint chip samples forever and never make my mind up so I found a picture on Pinterest and used their colour match features online to get a match, and it’s perfect! I love it, only took two coats to get a perfect finish too! It has the perfect warm tealy green undertone to it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Patchy and took 4-5 coats Victorian dusk - the paint was very runny, went on very patchy and took 4 coats, 5 in places to look reasonable. There is a sheen on the paint despite the fact we purchased Matt. the paint now chips off very easily. We also used on a mission. Love the colour and 2 coats were sufficient however very difficult to clean- dust can’t be wiped off and had to be repainted. Can’t just touch up a small area because it can be seen- have had to repaint full walls just to cover a small patch. Despite this would buy valspar again because of the range of colours, however will be using the v700 instead.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor customer service, very poor product! Purchased 5 litres of Saffron Sunset as well as three other colours. Two colours took well with good coverage, but this colour was very disappointing. Applied two coats onto white-washed wall (x2 coats of trade paint) to be left with very patchy walls, and were still patchy after three coats on one wall as a test. Chose this colour for a two tone wall so ended up having to sand it all back, re-white wash with two white coats, and re-apply THREE coats of V700 Queen Anne to get coverage that we were happy with. Sent an email to complain on the 24th (with photos) and had no response. Phone line continually asks for call backs due to being busy. Not impressed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst brand of paint that I have used The paint starts to go on well but as soon at you go back over an area you have just painted the paint will lift off. It does it both with the roller and the brush. Initially I purchased the hard wearing paint to do the hall and I had the issue. As we wanted to paint another room in the same colour we went for the trade paint next to see if that was any better but we had exactly the same issue. We have tried different piles of rollers and different types of brushes but all have the same problem with the paint lifting off. We were painting over previously painted walls and the walls were washed before we started.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality for price I have been a decorator for 36years and this has to be one of the poorest paints I have ever used. I applied 2 coats to a staircase and you can see every roller mark and the walls look patchy, especially in electric light. I have had to arrange to re paint the entire staircase again. This time I will be using Trade paint, no comparison in quality. Very disappointed and annoyed as I have wasted a lot of time and energy, not to mention the cost to my wallet and reputation. I have been a fan of Valspar paint since I was. Store manager in 1973 and promoted Valspar paint to all my customers. I think there is far too much vinyl in this emulsion which helps with durability and less splatter but its just a very expensive DIYer paint. I would recommend you spend your money wisely and buy the Gold tin or trade if you can afford to as this is quite expensive. Better in the long run though. Sorry Valspar but iether this paint is poor quality for price or I have a faulty batch. 10ltr down the drain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor application Painted two different rooms in my flat with the V500 and spent alot of time and money trying to get a good finish. Colour is really nice but thats about it. Application was a nightmare as it is very thick and you do not get good coverage out of it. Once it dried, the texture and finish was very very poor. It looks OK straight on but, if you look at a slight angle the horrible texture and patchy paint shows right through with even a slight shine to it (even though we used matt). Given the walls multiple coats and have tried sanding inbetween and various rolling techniques (no success). Really disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and great coverage I had a lovely shade made up in B & Q to decorate my Mum and Dads kitchen while they were on holiday. It hadn’t been painted for around 8 years so expected to have to do a few coats but after one coat it looked fantastic. They loved the new look especially my dad as it saved him a job!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Truly Awful I bought 2.5l of Castled Rhine and 5l of Oceans Reflections V500 emulsion in Matt finish mixed at B&Q. Paint was applied to already painted plaster walls coloured pale peach. The Castelled Rhine is a dark blue colour and I’d expected a couple of coats would be required but 4 coats later it still looks patchy. Strangely the paler blue oceans reflections covered better with two coats giving a reasonably solid appearance. Both paints however suffered from drag and lifting of paint applied only 30 seconds or so earlier making it very difficult to obtain a high quality finish. I note others have had good experiences with Valspar so I’m left wondering if this is a quality control issue or a problem with the mixing at B&Q. Based on this experience though I have to rate the product as awful and would never recommend to anyone else.
