General FAQs

If you want the toughest and most durable finish - Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings is the paint for you. It's scuff resistant and scrubbable, so it'll stand up against even the busiest, and messiest, homes.

Yes! Convenient and hassle free, our Premium Walls & Ceilings paint is low splatter and ideal for both your walls and your ceilings.

Picking the right finish for your paint is really important, and the sheen (how shiny your paint is) can have a huge impact on the end result! Matt, our personal favourite, reflects the least light, this means it looks the flattest and is the best at hiding imperfections. Silk paint has a gentle shine, highlighting the natural texture of the wall and bounces light around a room.

If it has just been freshly plastered, you need to ensure the walls are completely dry before painting. In normal conditions plaster should be dry after a week and ready to begin painting. We recommend using our Valspar Trade Bare Plaster paint as a primer and undercoat before applying the top coat of your chosen colour. For more advice see our how to guide on How To Paint New Plaster.

Yes! Tester pots, or colour sample pots as we call them, are available for all 2,000 of our pre-selected colours, and even in your own unique shade! Available for walls & ceilings, garden paint, and wood & metal, there is a tester pot for every project.

Valspar Premium Walls & Ceilings comes in a variety of sizes, so from accent walls and touch ups to a full colour drench, you can pick the perfect one for your project. Colour and tinting is available in 236ml colour sample pots, and 1L, 2.5L and 5L cans. If you're after a pure brilliant white, you can get this in 10L cans.

Our Walls and Ceilings paint comes in Matt, Mid-Sheen and Silk.

For most light and medium shades, our Premium Walls & Ceilings paint does the work for you with its priming technology. However, if you're looking to paint a difficult surface or make a bold colour change, we do recommend using a primer, and our range of water-based primers is the perfect place to start.

Application FAQs

For most light and medium shades, our Premium Walls & Ceilings paint does the work for you with its priming technology. However, if you're looking to paint a difficult surface or make a bold colour change, we do recommend using a primer, and our range of water-based primers is the perfect place to start.

Our Walls & Ceilings paint is low spatter, making it perfect for your walls and your ceilings. We have a huge range of other paints for all your other surfaces, so if you have a different project in mind, Valspar has you covered.

For the perfect finish, here's a few key steps we'd recommend. Firstly, the surface must be clean, dry and free of dust and grease. Once nice and clean, give surfaces a sand before painting. Make sure to remove any old, loose or flaky paint. Finally, repair all damaged areas and make sure the surface is completely free of mould. For more advice see our guide on How to Prep Walls for Painting.

We recommend painting your ceilings first to avoid drips or splashes on freshly painted walls.

While you can use whichever application tool you prefer with our paint, our recommendation is to use a roller for large flat surfaces, and a brush for any cutting in.

Our Walls & Ceilings paint dries to the touch in approximately an hour. After 2-4 hours, it will be ready for the second coat. For ultimate durability, allow your paint to cure for 28 days.

Yes! For the smoothest finish and application, we'd recommend a light sand, and to remove any flaky or loose paint. If there are any damaged areas, make sure those are filled and repaired before you start painting.

Before you start any painting onto plasterboard or lining paper, we recommend prepping the surface first. Once the surface is prepped, use Valspar Trade Bare Plaster as a base coat before applying the final colour. Then, you're ready to start the fun part!

Post Painting advice

Yes, but make sure you use the same paint colour to maintain a seamless finish.

If you follow our recommended prep tips before you start painting, our paint will not peel or flake over time.

Extra Questions

Please dispose of unused paint responsibly. Check with your local authority to see if they provide facilities for the disposal of waste paint. If you have leftover paint that cannot be re-used or stored, do not empty into drains or watercourses. Pour the leftover paint into a box with shredded paper or cat litter, allow it to solidify in a well-ventilated area away from children or pets, then dispose with household rubbish.
