Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new front door Bought this primer from B&Q at the advice of the paint mixing desk. Having bought a Valspar colour matched paint for my composite front door. I didn't read any reviews before I bought the product and was very nervous after reading a few online. So much so I actually rang my decorator on the morning to make sure it would be OK, particularly on a composite door. He reassured me that it would only need one, possibly two coats, and would be fine.  I lightly sanded and cleaned the door first, and let it dry before applying the first coat (after stirring the tin thoroughly) and I was so pleased and relieved it worked! Went on easily, and was not too thick/thin. I decided to do a 2nd coat just to be on the safe side and that went on even easier. It dries quickly too. Used 1" and 2" brushes and a small foam roller to achieve result. Water based too, so everything washes very easily afterwards. Would definitely recommend this primer, and the colour matching paint service. I love my new door!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely Shocking! I previously used a Valspar universal primer and undercoat for a project of internal doors! They were fine. However for the second project of doors I was recommended to use the wood primer & undercoat by a Valspar Expert at B&Q and said that the wood primer & undercoat was even more superior and would be more than capable. However this product is utter rubbish. I have had to put on 5 coats of this product, and still not really happy with the finish. Would have recommended Valspar from my first encounter but definitely not now after this. I would have been better of with a B&Q own brand! Not happy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t bother! I bought 2 2ltr tins. It’s like painting with white water until you get half way down the tin, then you get to the ‘primer paint’ it would seem. Followed the instruction. Stirred for what felt like hours and still like water. I definitely won’t be using this primer again! However, the emulsion paint I can’t rate high enough and have been using for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely brilliant! We bought this as we are painting all our woodwork in the hallway black and wanted a darker undercoat. It went on like a dream & dried relatively quickly. Just give the tin a bit of a shake before using. We’ve used two tins for all the spindles, stairs and 9 doors!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from useless I bought this today then threw it in the bin. So bad I am not sure if the tin I got was defective or not. Not a cheap product either. Wood started with a light wood stain in good condition sanded down and cleaned wood use a fine sandpaper to get smooth finish wiped off for dust free surface. So thin that two coats and the wood looks like I have not touched it. Had to put in a finish even though I have not got that far yet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I bought this yesterday, stirred as per instructions and it is like water. Nothing like the universal wood and metal primer I had bought previously. I am not happy as this was a more expensive product and now have to go and but another product to make up for this TERRIBLE white water product. Why is it still on the shelves and at a higher price to other similar products in the same range?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dreadful This product is completely useless. It so thin it hardly has any effect. I bought the product to paint several doors but gave up after one coat. I intended to return it to B&Q as I thought there was a fault but reading the reviews I see that others have the same complaint. Complete waste of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint I am a decorator and had a large village hall to paint. Loved the primer and the fact I could have the same colour as the paint I was using on exterior woodwork. As I was using a dark green it made my job so much easier. Would recommend these paints to anyone.
