2025 marks ten years since Valspar Trade was introduced into TradePoint branches. Read on, as we take a look back over the last decade…
From Sherwin-Williams, the largest coatings manufacturer in the world, the Valspar name brings with it a rich heritage, established for over 200 years. First launched in the UK in 2013 and introduced in TradePoint branches from 2015, Valspar Trade carries on this legacy of high-quality products and excellent colour options.
Perfect Match
In recognition of our large colour offering – with 2,000 pre-selected shades and the ability to colour match to 2.2 million – we launched the Perfect Match community, exclusively for those in the trade.
Members are provided with a host of benefits all focused on achieving that perfect match for the end customer – whether that’s finding an exact colour match or a complementary colour scheme. From colour trends advice and handy tips and tricks to regular competitions.
“Game Changer”
2022 saw us introduce a new and improved range to market, with formulations proven to perform where it counts, including ease of application, coverage and durability.
Key product developments included the new exterior paint range: Masonry Smooth paint, Masonry Stabiliser and Exterior Direct to Wood and Metal paint. With its innovative SeasonFlex™ technology, Valspar Trade Masonry Smooth paint can be applied in temperatures as low as 2°C, helping to extend the painting season into colder months. It’s
also weather and dirt resistant, as well as showerproof in just 30 minutes.
The update also saw our Wood and Metal paint range extended, with new wood and metal primers. Quick drying and providing strong adhesion, they’re ideal for achieving that perfect finish.
All of these improvements made Valspar Trade a real game changer in the market.
Revamped Cans
New packaging was the final touch to the ‘game changing’ initiative. A vibrant new look was designed to allow for easy product identification in store, putting the features and benefits front and centre.
As part of this, Valspar Trade Tough Matt interior emulsion was updated with a modern matte finish. Adopting a new metallic shield and rhino emblem, Tough Matt’s superior durability, stain resistance and scrubbability became a key element of the can design.
Direct to Plaster
2022 wasn’t the only year to feature new formulations, with 2023 seeing the launch of Valspar Trade Bare Plaster Matt. Capable of being applied straight onto plastered surfaces and plasterboard, this latest offering was designed to provide traders with faster results and a flawless finish.
Thanks to its formulation, the paint allows plastered surfaces to breath and can even be used as a final coat for ceilings. While the high viscosity allowed painters and decorators to confidently dilute the paint to go further for the first coat, getting more out of each tub.
